The Brass Pelican
« on: May 18, 2014, 05:40:09 PM »

The small inn is situated just outside the western town gates, close enough to the harbor to cater to visitors from across the land but far enough away to avoid the stink of the fish mongers.

On the outside, the inn is quaint, with a straw-thatched, wooden-under-braced roof and wooden beams prevalent on the building's exterior. The windows are thin glass braced by a criss-cross of wood, enough to keep out the weather but more decorative than sturdy. The building itself is constructed of heavy stone slabs, covered in an artful plaster.

The inside of the inn is of much finer quality, with generally clean wooden floors, a series of six wooden tables, and around thirty tall-backed chairs, each of which has a hand-carved headboard different from the others. The bar is a well-hewn and excessively-polished slab of granite, sturdy enough for the rowdiest brawl and lined with a number of metal bar stools, which are thoroughly rooted in the ground at comfortable distances.

The rooms upstairs are bland but comfortable and reliable, with a generously-sized bed, plenty of room to move around, a large chest of drawers, a vanity shelf with a mirror, a lockable chest - nailed to the floor - for important belongings, a short table and a few small stools, numerous pillows and blankets, and a bowl and flask of water and a glass. There are two bathrooms serving the ten rooms, but they are regularly cleaned by the staff.

There are quite a number of staff; the inn's popularity allows for a full compliment of three to four bartenders, three waitstaff, two bussers, two chefs, and two cleaners.

A live band is occasionally available on the stage; if not, it is available for patrons' use. There are a number of different types of alcohol available, and the tenders are generally able to mix about anything the patrons can come up with.

Welcome to the Brass Pelican . . .

The Brass Pelican - The Staff
The Staff . . .
((These are NPCs in the inn which you have permission to interact with))

Lyse Arper - Female Half-elf
---The inn's proprietor. Rarely available to speak with.

Jorni Stonemaster - Male Dwarf
---One of the inn's bartenders, a gruff type of few words but always quick to serve.

Loksuntha - Female Half-orc
---One of the inn's bartenders, a lithe but imposingly-tall joker with a quick wit and sharp tongue.

Valmong - Male Tiefling
---The one some view as 'lead' tender, a clearly homosexual but very charismatic gentleman who always knows the exact right thing to say.

Helve Sonjurr - Female Human
---One of the waitstaff, a shy and mostly-silent young woman who's quick on her feet.

Bonbrick Steamfuse - Male gnome
---Easily the shortest on the staff, but a dedicated waitstaff, and a great icebreaker at a 'cold' table. He occasionally serves as a bartender.

Erix Borne - Female Human
---A barely-tolerable waitress with a hawkish look and a tendency to be condescending. At least she does her job.

Inhur Silverfrond - Female Elf
---A clumsy table busser, she's surprisingly ungraceful for her race... but she can drink you under the table and can't resist a challenge.

Preko - Male Half-orc
---A busser and bouncer, he's an imposing figure at eight feet, with a tassel of hair brushing the rafters. He has to duck to reach the back room.

Alric Coggins - Male gnome
---One of the husband-and-wife team who are the chefs of the inn. They have a wide menu of decent, inn-type fare, at commoner's prices.

Carel Coggins - Female gnome
---One of the husband-and-wife team who are the chefs of the inn. They have a wide menu of decent, inn-type fare, at commoner's prices.

Mery Bottlebrush - Female Halfling
---A cleaner for the inn, efficient and surprisingly loud and bossy toward the other cleaner when things aren't getting done.

Findore Su'undilasMale Elf
---A layabout who spends all of his time whining about how difficult his work is and none of his time getting it done with, yet somehow he's still employed.

The Brass Pelican - Rules
The Rules . . .

  • Anyone may join and you may play any number and type of characters.
  • The setting is medieval fantasy (a la DnD) but alternate-setting characters may join. The staff will treat them appropriate to the inn's setting.
  • Some destruction of the bar will be tolerated; irreparable damage will get you kicked out by the staff.
  • You may assume use of things throughout the bar; you don't need permission to use a room and you can RP the waitstaff bringing your drinks or food.
  • Nothing sexually explicit. I trust you know what this means.

The front door swung open and a short figure strode purposefully in, tossing itself down on the nearest empty bar stool with a defeated 'huff'. A grass-stained leather-armor aviation suit concealed her, but it was soon evident when she spoke that she was female and middle-aged. Her voice came out weathered but full of personality. Her blue cape shook behind her as she flagged the nearest bartender.

"Valmong, sug', couldya get me a glass of yer strongest? Another rough day, I'm afraid..."

As her head tipped back and she downed the proffered drink, shocks of green hair peeked out from around the tight-fitting aviation cap and the goggles perched atop it. She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand and shifted until she was cozily hunched over the bar, silently staring down into her glass and waiting for Valmong to refill it.
